MOCKSVILLE ó The year 2009 marks Senior Services’ 25th anniversary. To celebrate, they plan to publish a cookbook of recipes by Davie County cooks.
Bring in your favorite recipes (typed or printed off computer is preferred). Include your name and phone number. Deadline is April 1.
They can only accept three recipes per category per person. Categories are: appetizers and beverages; soups and salads; vegetables and side dishes; main dishes, breads and rolls; desserts, cookies and candy; this and that.
A Valentine’s Day dance will be held 6:30-9:30 p.m., Feb. 14 with deejay Barry Rentz (The Mobile JukeBox) Cost is $5 per person. There will be a variety of music for all kinds of dancing, with or without a partner. Refreshments will be served. Open to adults 55 and older and exceptions under the general participation policy.
A Davie County Senior Games Kickoff Dinner and Fun Night will take place 6 p.m., Feb. 19. The event is free, sponsored by Davie Co. Senior Games. All Davie County residents 55 and older are invited to this night of soup, sandwiches, fun and games. A Black History Month Celebration takes place 10:30 a.m., Feb. 25. It is free. An RSVP is required by Feb. 20 for lunch.
February is Black History Month, and Senior Services is joining once again with Graham Funeral Home to celebrate. They are bringing to the community a performance from Beatrice Patrick of Winston Salem, who will dramatize “The Negro Mother” by Langston Hughes. Special music will be by Marshall Steele. Come and enjoy these talented artists as they relive the era of slavery.Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. for those who wish to stay. Reservations for the meal must be made by Feb. 20. The program and meal are open to general public.
