Area sports briefs: Catawba women rally

Catawba’s women’s basketball team rallied from a 14-point deficit to beat Lincoln Memorial 74-66 on Wednesday.
Catawba (11-6, 3-3) is 7-1 on the road.
Lincoln Memorial (6-11, 1-6) led 28-14 with 8:11 left in the first half before the Indians rallied.
Catawba used a 17-3 run, capped by a 3-pointer by Kisha Long, to grab its first lead at 38-35 and took a 40-38 halftime lead.
Cameron Clark scored three straight hoops to ignite a decisive 20-1 run in the second half by the Indians, and Catawba maintained its strong foul shooting after the Railsplitters made a late push.
Catawba won the rebounding battle and was plus-10 in turnovers.
Pamela Muldrow led Catawba with 15 points, while Clark added 14. Nisha Long scored 12 points and dished out eight assists.
Amberly O’Dell led the Railsplitters with 19 points, hitting five 3-pointers.

A.L. Brown will play Anson at home tonight. The Wonders are making up a game that was originally scheduled for Tuesday.
Brown is making up its game at Anson on Jan. 31.
– Jayvee basketball
East Rowan’s girls defeated North Iredell 45-44 in overtime.
Ashley Goins had 15 points and seven assists to lead the Mustangs.
Bridge Boling had 15 points and five steals for East, while Lindsey Dunlap had eight rebounds.
* West Rowan lost to Lake Norman 37-26. Allison Dutton scored nine points for West. Brittney Barber had eight.
* West’s boys topped Lake Norman 49-41.
Isaiah Cuthbertson scored 23 points for the Falcons. Maurice Warren had eight points, and Kajuan Phillips and Josh Poe had six apiece.
– 8th-grade hoops
Southeast’s girls rallied from an 11-point deficit in the fourth quarter and nipped Erwin 39-38.
Allison Blackwell led the Patriots (7-4) with 23 points (10 in the final period) and 13 rebounds. Tyesha Phillips had 12 points and seven rebounds.
Erwin (7-6, 6-5) was led by Sydney Poole with 18 points, seven rebounds and four blocks. Bobbi Thomas had 12 boards and eight points. Casey Gullett scored six.
* Southeast’s boys topped Erwin 36-29. Travis Abbit led the Patriots (6-5) with 12 points. Casey Stiller and Jack Gallagher added seven each.
Erwin (0-13, 0-11) was led by Tyler L’Hommedieu with 12 points. Dalton Moose scored 10.
* North Rowan’s girls stayed unbeaten with a 34-31 victory against Knox. Nikhyia Polk scored 11 points for the Mavericks (11-0), while Onesha Stevenson had nine.
Patreece Lattimore led the Trojans with eight points.
– North Hills hoops
The North Hills Varsity boys defeated Woodlawn 53-31. D’Shon Taylor had 20 points and 15 rebounds for the Eagles. Taylor Kriminger and Trent Gobble had seven points each.
– Overseas basketball
Terris Sifford (West Rowan) scored 16 points for his Italian pro team on Saturday.
– College lacrosse
Pfeiffer announced that Sacred Heart University’s Dan Melser is transferring to Pfeiffer.
– Umpiring clinic
