Pfeiffer’s men’s basketball team won at St. Andrews 103-95 for a Conference Carolinas victory on Monday.
The Falcons (8-6, 5-2) shot 50 percent and forced 23 turnovers.
Robert McGriff led Pfeiffer with 21 points. Chris Donald scored 14, while Trumaine Johnson, Davon Galliard and Chris Woods had 12 each.
Woods had eight rebounds.
– Pfeiffer women
Nicole Maready (Davie) scored 24 points as Pfeiffer’s women’s basketball team pounded St. Andrews 97-68 on Monday.
Amanda Huffaker scored 16 points for the Falcons. Carly Booth (Davie) added seven points.
– Prep wrestling
Pins by Nick Cornacchione, Donovan Smoot, Aaron Plyler, Hunter Arey, Coleton Boone, Josiah Hurst, Barrett Stehr and Alex Lawson paced East Rowan to a 55-24 NPC victory against West Rowan.
Chase Thompson won by major decision, while Chris Demitraszek took a decision for the Mustangs (19-7).
* In a tournament at Berry, East defeated South Point (58-24), North Buncombe (42-33), Hopewell (40-31) and Vance (78-0) and edged Mallard Creek (38-35) for the championship. Arey, Boone, Demitraszek, Lawson, Plyler and Colton Merritt went 5-0.
* Davie finished third in a strong field in the Sarah Wilkes Invitational at Eden Morehead.
– Prep basketball
Mooresville’s leading scorer and co-captain Chris Patterson has a broken hand. The Blue Devils are scheduled to play West Rowan tonight.
– College indoor track
Charlotte freshman Jake Deaton (Mooresville) was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week. He threw the shot 49 feet, 93/4 inches for third place in the Hokie Invitational.
– SAC football
Carson-Newman named Jim Deaton assistant head football coach.
– GARS outing
Twenty-seven GARS members played at Warrior Golf Club on Monday. Low ‘A’ Flight player was Bobby Clark with a net of 65.26. Low ‘B’ playaer was Art Hattaway with a net of 62.
Low ‘C’ player with a net of 64.13 was Bill Bradley. Lloyd Clodfelter led ‘D’ flight with a net of 65.97.
