College Basketball: Tusculum women 74, Catawba 56

Staff reportTusculum spotted Catawba’s women’s basketball team an early lead but charged back to defeat the Indians 74-56 in a SAC game at Goodman Gym on Saturday.
Catawba led 16-8 early, but the ninth-ranked Pioneers led 38-28 by halftime.
Catawba fought as close as 51-47 with 12 minutes left, but a 12-0 Pioneer run settled the issue. Tusculum led by as many as 21 points.
Shantae Shank led Tusculum (13-1, 4-0) with 15 points, and three other Pioneers were in double figures.
Dana Hicks led Catawba (9-5, 1-2) with 18 points and 15 rebounds, including 10 boards on the offensive end. Cameron Clark (North Stanly) also scored 18 points. Brittany Higgins was held to seven points but had four assists.
Catawba, which had a five-game winning streak snapped, shot 32.8 percent from the floor, while the visitors hit 47.5 percent. The Indians committed 24 turnovers.
