Northwest Cabarrus’ boys basketball team defeated North Iredell 96-60 for an NPC victory.
Tyler Honeycutt scored 31 points for the Trojans (9-3, 5-2), who led 47-22 at halftime.
Other double-figure scorers for Northwest were Steven Kiser with 13, Jeff Felton with 11 and Gavin Billings with 10.
n Salisbury jayvees
The Salisbury jayvee girls basketball team remained undefeated with a 47-40 win against East Davidson on Friday.
The Hornets (8-0, 3-0) were led by Doreen Richardson with 27 points and Najwa Allison with 11.
n Salisbury’s jayvee boys fell to East Davidson 54-48.
Dejoun Jones scored 14 and Forrest Wilkins 10 for the Hornets (5-3, 1-2).
n College women’s hoops
South Carolina State’s Sophilia Hipps (North Rowan) scored 20 points in a 72-60 loss against North Carolina Central on Friday.
n West Middle boosters
West Rowan Middle will hold its first Athletic Booster Club meeting of the year on Jan. 5.
The meeting will be from 5:30 ń 6:30 in Ms. Pless’ Health room.
We are looking for new ideas for the New Year. Everyone is welcomed and encouraged to attend.
n Salisbury Kings
Salisbury Kings YBOA 11-under boys basketball tryouts are Saturday, Jan. 10, at 2 p.m. at Hall Gym on W. Bank St.
Players can’t turn 12 before Sept. 1, 2009, in order to be eligible.

n Rec basketball
Salisbury Parks and Recreation Department is currently registering players for Jr. Bobcat girls basketball ages, 7-15, and coed basketball, ages 5-6, through Jan. 9 at Hall Gym.
The cost is $35 for city residents and $70 for non-residents.

High Point Stars Basketball Inc. will have a parents and players meeting on Jan. 11 at the Sports Gym in Thomasville from 3-4:30 p.m.
High Point Stars Basketball, Inc. will field girls 10-under, 11-under and 12-under and boys 13-under and 14-under.
Registration is Jan. 11-Feb. 10.
