Piano students present Christmas Program at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church

Students of Marsha Carter and Jan Sywenki presented a Christmas Duet Program on Dec. 23 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.

McGill student recital
Students of McGill Music Studios presented a program at First Presbyterian Church on Dec. 18 at 7 p.m.
The program was dedicated to the adult students in the studio. Lillian Gascoigne, Mary Baker, Sheryelle Smith and Doris McBee were honored with red rose corsages. Instructor Frances McGill thanked them for their devotion to the art, their inspiration and role modeling to all her students.
A Christmas Wonderland reception was held with homemade goodies amidst vignettes of Christmas chirldren’s nativities, gingerbread houses and glowing pines.
Students who performed were Drake Burlingham, Ashley Jamison, Mary Hunter Russell, Sarah Jamison, Kary Hales, Ginny Weant, Grace Russell, Salem Hockett, Lee Anna Kim Smith and Carmen McGill.
The program concluded with Ginny Weant and Lee Anna Kim Smith performing a duet arrangement of Franck’s Panis Angelicus, accompanied by Ms. McGill and cellist Gretchen Tracy.Red Cats
The Rowan Red Cats, a local chapter of the Red Hat Society, held its last meeting of the year on Dec. 9 at The Wren House.
The event was hosted by Barbara Walser. The table was decorated with Christmas accessories, and each place setting was graced with a Christmas gift. During the meal, games were played pertaining to Christmas songs while gifts were exchanged. Before closing the meeting. each member chose the month they would like to be hostess for the coming year.
