High Point ó Rowan Regional Home Health and Rowan Medical Facilities will merge with Advanced Home Care as of Jan. 1.
The High Point-based home care company has 26 branches in North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. Advanced Home Care specializes in home health services and medical equipment.
Rowan Medical Facilities, founded in 1984, offers medical equipment and supplies to patients in these same locations.
According to Joel Mills, the chief executive officer of Advanced Home Care, the merger will allow his company to provide skilled nursing and medical services in a more efficient manner.
“We are excited to have such quality organizations joining Advanced Home Care and look forward to providing enhanced services in the Rowan County area for many years to come,” Mills said in a press release announcing the merger.
Novant Health, along with other health-care organizations, is a part owner of Advanced Home Care.
“Like many other elements of health care, home care has become more and more complicated and requires significant support systems, information systems and management specialization that small agencies cannot provide,” Jeff Lindsay, president of Rowan Regional Medical Center, said in the press release.
Advanced Home Care’s senior leadership team is working with representatives of Rowan Home Health and Rowan Medical Facilities to facilitate the merger.
No interruptions in service to patients are expected.
New chief nurse at Lake Norman hospital
MOORESVILLE ó Lake Norman Regional Medical Center has promoted Rebecca “Becky” Dunlap to chief nursing officer.
She replaces Pamela Rudisill, who was promoted to HMA vice president of nursing/ patient safety.
Dunlap joined Lake Norman Regional in May 2006 as assistant chief nursing officer. Before joining Lake Norman Regional, she was at Presbyterian Hospital for 28 years, with 19 years experience in management, including director of critical care and medical-surgical and director of clinical decision support.
Dunlap received a nursing diploma from Presbyterian Hospital in 1978, a BSN in 1996 from the University of the State of New York, and a master’s in health administration in 2006 from Pfeiffer University. She received board certification as Nurse Executive n Advanced from the American Nurses Credentialing Center in 2007.
Novant, Rowan Family Physicians link up Rowan Family Physicians has joined Novant Medical Group, the physician network for Novant Health, of which Rowan Regional Medical Center and Presbyterian Hospital are affiliates.
Rowan Family Physicians was founded in 1980 and the 11-provider practice provides care for patients of all ages. Its physicians are board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.

Certification must be renewed through submission of a continuing practice journal, which demonstrates evidence of continuing education and participation in activities designed to enhance professional competence in the field.
Arey also has designed a research project, “Comparing the phantom imaging method with the sensitometric method as a means of testing quality control in the film processor,” which won a first place Derieux award at the 102nd NC Academy of Science.
The U.S. Patent Office issued a registered trademark on Arey’s invention, which is called the P+ Visual Image Comparison X-ray Quality Assurance Test Phantom.

Novant names VP of ambulatory care
Charlotte ó A little more than one year after joining Presbyterian Novant Medical Group, Dr. Dari Caldwell has been promoted to Novant Health’s vice president of ambulatory care for the Charlotte region.
Caldwell will be responsible for ambulatory care projects in the greater Charlotte market, including medical plazas, ambulatory surgery centers and other ambulatory care endeavors.
Before joining Novant Health last year, Caldwell served as vice president for operations for Cabarrus Family Medicine. She had oversight of eight practices with more than 45 physicians and 250 employees in Cabarrus and Stanly counties.
Before that, she was vice president and chief operating officer at NorthEast Medical Center, where she had a decade-long career.
She earned a doctor of philosophy in health care administration from Columbia Pacific University. She also obtained a master of science degree in nursing from Duke University and a bachelor of science degree in nursing from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and holds advanced certification in nursing administration from the American Nurse’s Credentialing Center.
She has held clinical and leadership positions at facilities around the nation, including Seton Medical Center, Duke University Medical Center, Johnston Memorial Hospital, Wilson Memorial Hospital, Downey Community Hospital, St. Agnes Hospital and White Plains Hospital Center.
Hill is Home Instead Caregiver of Month
Jean Hill has been named Caregiver of the Month for December at Home Instead Senior Care, 625 W. Innes St.
This award is given to an employee who goes above and beyond the call of duty in caring for seniors with whom they are entrusted.
Hill joined the Salisbury business in August.
“Jean loves taking care of seniors and she’s able to find fun activities to do, even researching on the Internet to find new and interesting ways to interact with her clients,” said Mona Knight, staffing coordinator.
“She is always pleasant and clients ask for her by name,” said Jessica Bryans, recruitment/retention coordinator for Home Instead Senior Care.
Originally from Charlotte, Hill lives in Salisbury with her husband, Lloyd. They have three grown children, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Food Lion’s second donation on MondayFood Lion will make its second Season of Savings donation to the Charlotte Food Bank on Monday.
The Salisbury-based grocery chain is donating nearly $7,000 in Food Lion brand products to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina.
This delivery will be the second of two donations the grocery chain is making during its four-week Season of Savings promotion to help those in need living in the Charlotte area.
The events will take place at the Food Lion at 5624 N. Graham St. in Charlotte.
