Area Sports Briefs: West tickets on sale

Pre-sale tickets for West Rowan’s state 3A championship game against West Craven will be on sale beginning today through Friday in the school office from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Tickets will also be sold tonight at West’s girls jayvee-varsity basketball game and on Thursday when West plays host to North Rowan.
Pre-sale tickets are $9. They are $10 at the game, which will be played at BB&T Field in Winston-Salem. Kickoff is at noon.
– Hoops rescheduled
West Rowan’s jayvee and varsity girls will entertain North Iredell tonight in a doubleheader starting at 5 p.m.
The boys games are postponed until Jan. 12.
* The West jayvee boys and girls and West’s varsity girls will play a tripleheader at Lake Norman on Friday, starting at 4 p.m.
The varsity boys game is postponed until Jan. 7.
* The West Rowan-South Rowan games are rescheduled for Dec. 22.
* The West Rowan-Mooresville games are rescheduled for Jan. 20.
* Carson’s home basketball doubleheader against East Rowan, originally scheduled for Dec. 16, will now be played on Dec. 17.
– Hole-in-one
Miriam Gruber made a hole-in-one on No. 6 at Warrior Golf Club on Wednesday.
She used an 8-iron on the 115-yard hole. Witnesses were Beth Calhoun and Sharon Deal.
– 8th-grade hoops
North Rowan’s boys remained undefeated with a 40-39 win at Southeast Middle on Monday. T.J. Bates led North with 17 points. T.J. Allen and Desmond Jackson had six apiece.
Southeast’s Jack Gallagher hit three 3-pointers and led all scorers with 20 points. Travis Abbitt scored eight for the Patriots.
* North Rowan’s girls topped Southeast 43-34.
North was led by Taylor Sells with 11 points and Daterria Connor with 10.Southeast was led by Tyesha Phillips with 17 points.
* Erwin’s girls topped China Grove 34-16.
Sydney Poole scored eight points for Erwin (4-2, 3-1), Carolyn Fry had six. Bobbi Thomas grabbed nine rebounds. Casey Gullett had six steals.
China Grove (0-5, 0-4) was paced by Courtney Simpson with 10 points.
*China Grove’s boys downed Erwin 56-41.
Josh Medlin scored 18 points for the Red Devils, while Connor Bridges had 17. Malachi Parker had nine points, and Eric Tyler added seven.
Erwin (0-6, 0-4) was led by Tyler L’Hommedieu with 10 points. Dalton Moose scored nine points. Kyle Leslie had seven points. Austin Jackson got seven rebounds.
– North boosters
The next North Rowan High School Booster Club meeting is Monday, Dec. 15, at 7 p.m. in the media center.
– North holiday BBQ
North is taking orders through Monday Dec. 15 at the school (704-636-4420) for holiday BBQ.
Pick-up is Saturday Dec. 20 by 8 a.m.
Cost is $3.75 per pound.
– Parnell update
Chicago White Sox GM Ken Williams scouted Bobby Parnell (East Rowan) in the Arizona Fall League, but the Chicago Tribune reports the Mets are “disinclined to trade Parnell.”
– Sacred Heart hoops
Sacred Heart’s girls won the St. Andrews Invitational Tournament in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Kelly Dulkoski had 15 points, and Laney Gokey had six in a 28-22 victory against Christ Our King. Alison Sobataka had nine rebounds, and Dulkoski had six steals.
In a 37-27 victory against Davidson Country Day, Dulkoski had 16 points and nine rebounds. Jordan Pring scored eight points for the Dolphins (11-1).
– Prep wrestling
Nine teams participated in a wrestling tournament at Salisbury.
Salisbury finished second, while North Rowan was fourth.
First-place medals went to Tyler Powers and Jeremiah Boger of North Rowan and to Dontarius “DT” Mills, Joseph Figueroa, Tre Jackson, and Albert Shaver of Salisbury.
North’s Tanner Motley and Salisbury’s Blayne Johnson finished second. North’s Giancarlo Soloranzo and Salisbury’s Victor Faries, Marqui Ross and Justin Adkins had third-place finishes.
Figueroa was voted Most Outstanding for the lower weights.
– Stallions basketball
The Cabarrus-Rowan Home Education Stallions defeated Greensboro 68-55.
The Stallions backcourt of Tim Colman and Caleb Dietz combined for 26 points, 13 assists, nine rebounds and eight steals.
– West baseball camp
West Rowan’s Pitching Camp that was scheduled for Dec. 13 has been postponed because of the football playoffs. The camp will be held Jan. 17. Contact David Wright at 704-278-9233.

Thirty-six GARS members played at Warrior on Monday.
Low ‘A’ Flight player was Don Bishop with a net of 71.05.
Low ‘B’ player was Everett Hancock Sr. with a net of 62.16. Ron Ervin won ‘C’ Flight with a net of 59.08. Low ‘D’ player was Guy Schenk with a net of 71.12.
