HARTFORD, Conn. ó Hasheem Thabeet had 16 points and 12 rebounds and No. 2 Connecticut routed Bryant 88-58, giving coach Jim Calhoun his 780th career win.
Thabeet led five Huskies in double figures. Craig Austrie scored 15, A.J. Price and Jeff Adrien each had 14, and Jerome Dyson added 11 for UConn (6-0).

NEWARK, N.J. ó Sam Young scored 15 points and Levance Fields added 14 to lead Pittsburgh (7-0) to the Legends Classic championship.

LOS ANGELES ó Freshman guard Jrue Holiday scored 20 points and UCLA cruised to the win. Darren Collison added 11 points, seven assists and four rebounds for UCLA (4-1).

The Pirates (5-1) ended a four-game losing streak to Winthrop, which lost only its 19th home game in the past 11 years.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska ó Poor free throw shooting nearly cost Western Carolina another game at the Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout.The Catamounts couldn’t close out San Diego State on Saturday night after missing free throws but hit enough down the stretch to defeat Northern Illinois 71-67 for fourth place in the holiday tournament.
Penn State 78, Towson 54
PHILADELPHIA (AP) ó Stanley Pringle scored 16 points in leading Penn State to a 78-54 win over Towson in a consolation round game of the Philly Hoop Group Classic at the Palestra.
Former West Rowan star Junior Hairston scored seven points and had eight rebounds for Towson (3-3).
