NEW ORLEANS ó Brandon Costner scored 19 points to lead N.C. State to a 65-59 victory over New Orleans in the season opener for both teams on Saturday night.
The Wolfpack trailed by seven points in the first half before tying the game 31-31 at halftime. N.C. State outscored the Privateers 34-28 in the second half.
Ben McCauley scored 11 of his 17 points in the second half and Trevor Ferguson added 10 for N.C. State. Costner had seven rebounds to help the Wolfpack out rebound New Orleans 34-22.
Clemson 70, TCU 58
CHARLESTON, S.C. ó K.C. Rivers scored 18 points to help Clemson beat TCU 70-58 win in the semifinals of the Charleston Classic.
The Tigers (2-0) will face Temple for the championship today.
David Potter made a 3-pointer with a 1 second left in the first half to give Clemson a 29-27 halftime lead.The Tigers maintained a 10-point lead on several occasions in the second half, but never could pull away until late in the game.

CORAL GABLES, Fla. ó Cyrus McGowan had 10 rebounds and seven points in 15 minutes, and highly touted freshman DeQuan Jones had seven points in 17 minutes to help No. 17 Miami beat Division II Florida Southern 96-60.
Dwyane Collins had 18 points and a career-high 16 rebounds, and Jack McClinton also scored 18 for Miami, whose preseason ranking was their highest ever.

LOS ANGELES ó Taj Gibson scored 17 points, including six straight in a decisive second-half run, and Southern California defeated UC Irvine to win its first season opener in four years.
West Virginia 92, Elon 47
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. ó Da’Sean Butler and Alex Ruoff scored 19 points apiece to lead West Virginia to a 92-47 win over Elon on Saturday night in the season opener for both schools.
