Coreen Marie Barnaby and Jason iJ.D.î Scott Davis were united in marriage Oct. 25, 2008, at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Salisbury.
Pastor Alonza A. Williams and the Rev. Earl C. Johnson officiated the 4 p.m. ceremony, which was followed by a reception at Holiday Inn Convention Center.
The bride was escorted by her father, Gary Barnaby. She was attended by her sisters, Doreen Barnaby of Grand Forks, N.D., as maid of honor and Loreen Grandy of Wyoming as matron of honor. Bridesmaids included sister of the groom Ophelia Davis Johnson of Willingboro, N.J., cousin of the groom Sara Lowery of Lubbock,Texas, Amber Volk and Susan Jackson, both of Atlanta, Ga., and Traci Barber of Minneapolis, Minn. Niece of the bride KíCee Barnaby of Bismarck, N.D., served as junior bridesmaid.
Justin Sean Davis of Salisbury stood as his brotherís best man. Serving as groomsmen were brother of the groom Benjamin Davis, Jr., of Kannapolis, DeVonte Peterson and Carlton Jackson of Salisbury, Jared Eure of Winston-Salem, Steve McKnight of Charlotte and Joel Fleming of Asheville. Ushers were Mark Sintich of Suwanee, Ga., and Gary Barnaby, Jr., of Kalispell, Mont. Jerry Barnaby of Wyoming and Terry Barnaby of Bismarck, N.D., served as ushers and candlelighters. Son of the groom Issiah Davis of Suwanee, Ga., stood as junior groomsman.
Flower girls were niece of the groom Joi Simone Davis of Kannapolis and nieces of the bride KíLee Barnaby of Bismarck, N.D., and Kayla Barnaby of Wyoming.
Serving as hostesses were Jamarla Phillips and Shelita White of Salisbury, Jada Holloway of Kannapolis, Kristen Johnson of Willingboro, N.J., Tonya Davis of Kannapolis, Brenda Chunn of Woodleaf and Alice Suber of Spencer. Guest register attendant was Kelli Johnson of Willingboro, N.J.
The bride is the daughter of Gary and Evelyn Barnaby of Wibaux, Mont., and Ervin and Margeurite Emter of Glen Ullin, N.D. A 1996 graduate of Glen Ullin High School in North Dakota, Coreen received an Associate degree in Surgical Technology from East Grand Forks Technical College in Minnesota in 1998, where she was an honor graduate and on the deanís list. Coreen was also a four-sport athlete in basketball, track, volleyball and softball. She is an Office Manager and a Certified Surgical Technologist at Atlanta Center for Athletes.
The groom is the son of Benjamin and Suzette Davis and the grandson of Mrs. Rebecca Lowery Davis, all of Salisbury. A 1994 honor graduate of West Rowan High School and Athlete of the Year, Jason was All County and All Conference in Football and was a member of two basketball conference championships. In 2000, he received Bachelor of Arts degrees in Business Administration and History from Catawba College, where he attended on an athletic scholarship and was named Standout Free Safety for the 1996 SAC Conference Championship. A former teacher/coach at Salisbury High School and Southeast Middle School and former football coach at Catawba College, Delta State University in Mississippi and Southeastern Louisiana University, Jason is an Account Manager at Think Resources, Inc., in Atlanta, Ga.
Following a wedding trip to Key West, Fla., the couple are making their home in Suwanee, Ga.
