A whole new world: PPT stages Disney’s Aladdin Jr.

The first Piedmont Players Theatre youth production of the year is here, and it’s a big musical production: “Disney’s Aladdin Jr.”
The showó which features such hits as “A Whole New World” and a magic carpet ó opened yesterday for second and third-grade classes, which will continue to see the show through the week as part of their literature curriculum.
Before seeing the show, volunteers second and third-graders heard volunteers from Piedmont Players speak to their classes about some fundamental concepts of live theatre.
The show is open to the public at 7:30 p.m. this Friday, Oct. 10, at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11 ; at 1, 3 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18.
Tommie Estes stars as Aladdin; Haily Weddington is Princess Jasmine.
Tom Murph is the Sultan; Will Merrick is Jafar; and Kevin Aitken is Razoul; and Madison Roberts is Iago.
Razoul’s Guards are Maryn Miles, Arisa McDonald, Molly Monath, Jonathan Matthews, Eli Duncan and Joe Cornacchione,
Narrators are McClain Miles, Lauren Gaskill, Aubrey Barton, Ebony Rivers, Kayla Witherspoon
Ryan Lilly, Cody Veros and Terry Brockington play princes.
Townspeople include Alyce Lentz, Brittany Allen, Caroline Merrick, Rachael Duncan, Alana Koontz, Sarasota Serulneck, Scarlett Speaks, Tara Speaks, Taryn Higgins, Jake Kruger, Liam Pendergrass, Anthony Cataldo, Adam Silverstrim
Ginny Weant plays the genie.

Tickets are $6 for public performances. The box office is open from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on evenings of show and at 1 p.m. for matinee shows.
