Carson’s soccer team beat East Rowan 8-0 in NPC action on Tuesday.
Carlos Soto scored four goals, one on a penalty kick.
Valentin Nava had a hat trick, and Brandon Jolly had one goal.
Keeper Anel Ramic was credited with the shutout. Salih Begic, Tyler Corriher, Dylan Overcash, Anthony Melton and C.J. Sippel led the defense.
* Soto, Nava and Carlos Macias scored goals in a 3-1 victory over West Rowan on Monday.
Oscar Cabrera scored for the Falcons.
The Cougars (5-1-2) have won against all the teams in the county while allowing one goal.
Carson plays North Iredell tonight in the NPC.
– Prep volleyball
South Rowan picked up a 25-3, 25-14, 25-14 non-conference win against Salisbury on Monday.
Kayla Morrow served for 17 points with three aces for the Raiders (6-2), and Krista Haywood served for 12 points.
Haywood had 13 assists. Taylor May had 12 kills, Morrow had seven and Amber Waldroup added five.
* In South’s recent 19-25, 25-23, 21-25, 25-18, 15-13 NPC loss to Lake Norman, Morrow served for 16 points, Haywood 15 and Molly Garrett 14.
May had 12 digs, Morrow had 10 and Haywood had nine.
May had 16 kills while Morrow and Haywood had 10 each.
Haywood had 30 assists.
* Carson swept North Rowan 25-7, 25-14, 25-12 on Monday.
Sarah Marshall had 28 service points and seven digs. Breckin Settlemeyer had five kills and a block.
* Carson’s jayvees beat North 25-7, 25-5.
Shirley Marshall had 13 service points. Angelo Talerico served for seven points.
Morgan Griffin, Kayla Moose and Jordan Whitley served for six apiece.
* Gray Stone beat South Stanly 3-2 on Monday.
– Rowan Volleyball Club
The Rowan Volleyball Club will play host to volleyball clinics on Sept. 13, Sept. 27 and Oct. 11 from 9-11am at Carson High.
The club is for grades 5-8.
The cost is $10 per session.
– Prep boys cross country
Northwest Cabarrus’ boys won the Statesville Invitational meet held at Mac Anderson Park on Tuesday.
The Trojans scored 78 points to top the 14-team field. Lake Norman (93) was second.
Mooresville (104), East Rowan (114), South Rowan (122) and A.L. Brown (204) rounded out the top six.
Carson (357) was 11th. West Rowan (397) was 14th.
Northwest’s Chase Fisher won the 5K meet in 16:01.
A.L. Brown’s Larry Scaggs was second in 16:06.
Top Rowan finisher was East’s Ross Oden, who took fifth in 16:36.
South Rowan’s Tyler Kowalczyk (seventh, 16:55) and Michael York (eighth, 16:57) had strong runs.
Northwest’s Garrett West was ninth in 17:02, and East’s Cole Honeycutt was 10th in 17:03.
Other Rowan and A.L. Brown finishers among the top 50 runners were West’s Dillon Kluttz (19th, 17:34), Carson’s Nick Golden (21st, 17:38), Brown’s Zach Fesperman (25th, 17:47), South’s Dalton Johnson (27th, 17:50), East’s Brad Oden (28th, 17:51), East’s Coleton Boone (31st, 17:59), South’s Jeff Culbertson (36th, 18:11), East’s Michael Shuping (40th, 18:14), Brown’s Brendan Stauter (42nd, 18:22.05), South’s Eric Delgado (44th, 18:24.62), Carson’s Matt Heffelfinger (45th, 18:24.93) and East’s Bryson Stoner (49th, 18:26).n Prep girls cross country
East Wilkes’ Carol Blankenship won the girls 5K at Tuesday’s Statesville Invitational.
Official team results weren’t available at deadline.
Northwest Cabarrus’ Sierra Hagl was fifth in 19:49. West Rowan’s Leslie Pence led county finishers. She was sixth in 19:50.
Davie’s Caitlin Tutterow was 11th in 20:30, and Davie’s Holly Thompson was 14th in 20:38.
Emily Kinney led South Rowan. She was 15th in 20:41.
Other Rowan, Davie and A.L. Brown runners among the top 50 finishers were West’s Taylor Bryan (23rd, 21:11), Carson’s Sierra Zemanick (26th, 21:18), Davie’s Emerald Tuthill (31st, 21:37), East’s Taylor Arey (33rd, 21:56), South’s Camille Craddock (35th, 21:57), Davie’s Heather Whitehead (38th, 22:01), East’s Kristin Hatley (39th, 22:11), East’s Jenny Hughes (40th, 22:12), A.L. Brown’s India Rattler (42nd, 22:15), Brown’s Korri Sassman (46th, 22:34) and Davie’s Alex Keiser (47th, 22::40).
South’s Ericka Ashley was 51st in 23:00.
– Salisbury football parking
Reserve parking for the Salisbury-West Stanly varsity football game at Ludwig Stadium on Friday is available through the school office by calling 704-636-1221 from 8-4.
Spaces are on a first-come. first-serve basis. Questions should be directed to the school office.
– Corbin Hills golf
The Corbin Hills Ladies Golf Association played in a Kicker’s Replay event on Tuesday.
The net winner was Beth Calhoun, followed by Carolynn Ries and Shirley Baucom.
Low gross winner was Wanda Sanders. She was followed by Phyllis Durland and Azalee Story.
– Prep golf
Salisbury shot 122 and won a golf match with West Rowan (152) and East Davidson (165) at Rolling Hills on Tuesday.
Allison Lee shot 1-over 37 to lead the Hornets.
Catherine Parks shot 41. Madison Kennedy shot 44.
Lily Yatawara (46), Amber Lyerly (49) and Lauren Martz (55) also competed for the Hornets.
Katie Knepp led West with a 49. Ashlynn Perry shot 51 and Alex Mills 52.
Micah Cottingham (56) and Stephanie Mowery (62) also competed for West.
Katie Nance shot 45 to lead East Davidson.
– South football reunion
South Rowan plans to honor members of the 1983 South football team, which set a school record with 11 wins.
The team will be recognized at Friday’s home game against Northwest Cabarrus.

The Post’s Friday Night Legends feature this week will be on the 1983 Raiders.
– Cystic Fibrosis event
The 2nd annual “Saving Grace” Cystic Fibrosis Golf Tournament will be held at Corbin Hills on Saturday, Oct. 25, at 1:30 pm.
Team “Saving Grace” is holding the tournament to raise money for research to find a cure for cystic fibrosis.
Team “Saving Grace” was established in honor of 6-year-old Grace Hodge, who is one of 15 children in Rowan County that suffers from CF.
All proceeds go directly to CF Foundation, with over 90 cents of each dollar going to fund research.
The format is Captain’s Choice, $50 per person or $200 per team.
Lunch is included in the entry fee.
