Boyette – Cline

Harold and Melody Reid of Salisbury are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Noel Joy Boyette, to Kenneth Lee Cline.
The bride-to-be is a 2005 graduate of A.L. Brown High School and is studying for a business degree at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. Joy is employed at Loweís Home Improvement in Salisbury.
The future groom is the son of Michael and Louise Cline of Salisbury. A 2003 graduate of South Rowan High School, Kenneth is a produce manager for Food Lion.
The wedding will be Saturday, Sept. 27 at North Kannapolis Baptist Church.

Carrick and Williams 50th Anniversary

Lawrence Lanier Williams and Geneva File Williams of Salisbury are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary today, Aug. 24, 2008. The couple were married Aug. 24, 1958, in a joint wedding ceremony with her sister at St. Matthewís Lutheran Church in Salisbury by the Rev. Floyd Trexler and the Rev. Sam Goins. The Williamsí previously lived in Lexington, N.C., for 47 years, where they owned and operated Centerclair Nursing Home in Lexington for 27 years, where she was also a registered nurse. Lawrence is a registered pharmacist presently working parttime at Center Street Pharmacy in Lexington. The couple have two children: Bryan Lanier Williams and wife Carrie of Charlotte and their son, Jay, and Karen Williams Woodall and husband Clif of Atlanta, Ga., and their children, Laura, Ryan, Jason and Leia. The Williamsí recently moved back to Salisbury near Genevaís homeplace. Her parents were the late Tobias and Laura File of Salisbury, and Lawrenceís parents were the late Homer and Lissie Williams of Zebulon.
Kenneth Duane Carrick Sr. and Naomi Oneida File Carrick of Salisbury are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary today, Aug. 24, 2008. The Carricks were married Aug. 24, 1958, in a joint wedding ceremony with her sister at St. Matthewís Lutheran Church in Salisbury by the Rev. Floyd Trexler and the Rev. Sam Goins. The Carricks previously lived in Thomasville for 44 years. Duane was a departmental manager in the Finishing Dept. at Silver Knit Industries for 40 years and retired as plant manager from Highland Mills Finishing Plant in Cherryville. Naomi was in nursing for 32 years in High Point and in food service at Thomasville Primary School for five years. The Carricksí children are Kenneth Duane Carrick, Jr. and wife Sue and Michael Allen Carrick and wife Kimberlie, all of Charlotte. Their five grandchildren are John, Ashton, Kendal, Matthew and Benjamin Carrick, all of Charlotte. Duane is the son of the late Manuel and Velna Carrick of High Point, and Naomi is the daughter of the late Tobias and Laura File of Salisbury.
Both couples are planning a joint trip to New York for the week of Aug. 15-23.

Frost Birth

Annika Terress Frost was born May 26, 2008, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She weighed 8 lbs., 10 oz., and was 21-1/4 in. long. Annika is the daughter of Zachary and Katherine Frost of Chapel Hill. Her grandparents are Anne Palmer and the late Dr. William Palmer of Salisbury and Stephen and Melanie Frost of Harvard, Mass. Her great-grandparents are Philippa Johnson and the late Fred Johnson of Salisbury, the late Rev. Dr. Jacob and Etna Palmer of Thomasville, the late Paul and Irina Frost of Worcester, Mass, and the late Eben and Marjorie Jones of Dublin, Ohio.

Hand Birth

Addile Elizabeth Hand was born June 11, 2008, at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord. She weighed 6 lb., 7 oz.
Addile is the daughter of Chris and Patricia Hand of Salisbury and the granddaughter of Larry Wyrick, Janet and William Hill and Leon and Kathy Hand, all of Salisbury.
Her great-grandparents are Sam and Mary Rowe of Linwood, and Vergie Bame, Homer Hand and Lula Wyrick, all of Salisbury.

Holshouser 65th Anniversary

Otha Glenn Holshouser and Frances Freeze Holshouser of China Grove are celebrating their 65th anniversary today, Aug. 24, 2008, at a reception in their honor at Mt. Moriah Lutheran Churchís Youth and Family Life Center. The Holshousers were married Aug. 24, 1943, at Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church parsonage by the Rev. Edgar Ray Trexler. Glenn retired as a textile designer with Cannon Mills, where Frances also retired. The coupleís children are Glenda Overcash and husband Kay Eugene of China Grove and Jill Overcash and husband Randy of Salisbury. Their grandchildren are Tim (Dawn), Phil (Laura), Rod (Francine), Pete (Chrissy) and Darren (Laura). They also have four great-grandchildren.
