Abella – Gent
Mr. Nonilo and Dr. Erlinda Abella of Salisbury are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Julie Anne Bathan Abella of Washington, D.C., to Gordon Lee Gent, also of Washington, D.C. Julie and Gordon met while serving in the Peace Corps in Uzbekistan in 2004.
The bride-to-be is a 1999 graduate of East Rowan High School and a 2003 graduate of the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Julie is pursuing a master’s degree in Sustainable International Development from Brandeis University (Heller School for Social Policy and Management).
The future groom is the son of Edward and Joy Gent of Gulfport, Miss., and the grandson of Alfred and Beverly Gent of McComb, Miss., and Dr. Gordon and Joy Wills of Memphis, Tenn. A 1999 graduate of St. John High School in Gulfport, Gordon graduated magna cum laude from the University of Mississippi in 2003, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and affiliated with Croft Institute for International Studies. He is the membership coordinator with Association Global Services.
The wedding is Nov. 27, 2009, in Italy.
Carlan – Bostian
Ann Stoner Carlan and Clarence Leonard Bostian, Jr. were united in marriage June 22, 2008, at 4:30 in the afternoon at Christiana Lutheran Church in Salisbury.
The Rev. Carl M. Haynes officiated the ceremony, which was followed by a reception at the Fellowship Hall of the church hosted by the bridal couple.
The couple greeted wedding guests as they arrived for the ceremony and entered the church together in a wedding processional to the music, iJoyful, Joyful We Adore Thee.î Mr. Terrence Franklin Stoner was the crucifix bearer for his sister, followed by the Wedding Banner carried by Miss Liberty Grace Cozart.
Mrs. Lynne Kepley Robinson of Salisbury, daughter of the bride, and Ms. Ilona Ingrid Bostian of Arnoldsville, Ga., daughter of the groom, served as Matrons of Honor for their parents.
Master Levi Price Bostian, great-grandson of the groom of Hull, Ga., served as ringbearer.
Honor Attendants were Mrs. Phyllis Roseman Taylor of Littleton, Colo., Mrs. Gwyn Pell Bottoms of Salisbury and Ms. Kathy Jean Younger of Falls Church, Va.
Acolytes were Miss Liberty Grace Cozart and Miss Abrielle Kathryn Cozart, both of Rockwell.
Mrs. Donna Webb Stoner of Lexington, sister-in-law of the bride, served as registrar. Mr. B. Douglas Robinson, son-in-law of the bride, was program attendant and photographer. Wedding director was Mrs. Kathy Morrow Haynes. Organist for the occasion was Mrs. Rosemary Kinard, and soloist was Mr. Ralph Hair, who sang iWhen Love is Foundî and iThe Greatest of These is Love.î The congregation joined in the hymn iBind Us Togetherî as the wedding blessing.
The bride, daughter of the late Ernest Joseph and Janice Brown Stoner of Salisbury, is a graduate of East Rowan High School and Catawba College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business. She retired from Wachovia Bank Corporation, where she had been the branch manager of the West and Main offices in Salisbury.
The groom is the son of the late Clarence Leonard and Vergie Cranford Bostian. He is a graduate of Boyden High School and North Carolina State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Textile Technology and had a career with various textile corporations in New York City.
The couple enjoyed a wedding trip along the Eastern Coast with stops in Beaufort, S.C., Savannah, Ga., and a final destination of Amelia Island, Fla. They are now residing in Spencer.
Rehearsal Dinner
A wedding rehearsal dinner was held at the home of the bride on June 21. The outdoor gathering was a barbecue with family and friends enjoying the evening. The brideís home was decorated with flowers and candles echoing the red and black color scheme of the wedding. Gifts were presented to the attendants at this time.

Coleman – Sigmon
ROCKWELL ó Miranda Lee Coleman and Benjamin Craig Sigmon were united in marriage Saturday, July 19, 2008, at St. James Lutheran Church. The Rev. Craig Sigmon, father of the groom, officiated the 4 p.m. ceremony, which was followed by a reception at the Rowan Museum in Salisbury hosted by the parents of the bride.
The bride was escorted by her father, Allen Coleman. The bride chose her best friend, Tina Brown of Salisbury, as her maid of honor. Her bridesmaids were Katie Sigmon, Betsy Sigmon, Karen Cawley and Alexis Owens. Sarah Margaret Dyer was flower girl.
Derek Talbert, best friend of the groom, stood as best man. Groomsmen included Daniel Herring, Charles Draper, Jeremy Cawley and Alex Owens. Ethan Campbell served as ring bearer.
The bride is the daughter of Mitzi Poole of Rockwell and Allen and Heather Coleman of Faith. She is the granddaughter of Ruby and the late George Poole of Rockwell and Pearleen and Jimmy Coleman of Salisbury. Miranda is a 2003 graduate of East Rowan High School and 2007 graduate of Appalachian State University. She is a teacher at Hurley Elementary School in Salisbury.
The groom is the son of the Rev. Craig and Susan Sigmon and the grandson of Ted and Janice Sigmon of Claremont and Jimmy and Shirley Moore of Bethlehem. Benjamin is a 2003 graduate of East Rowan High School and 2007 graduate of Appalachian State University. He is employed by OrthoCarolina as an orthotic technician.
The rehearsal dinner was hosted by the parents of the groom at the Rowan Museum in Salisbury. The day before the wedding, the groomsmen enjoyed a round of golf, while the ladies had a bridesmaids luncheon at the Wrenn House hosted by Heather Dyer.
Following a honeymoon in Jamaica, the couple plan to make their home in Granite Quarry.
Deal Infant Baptism
Lylla May Deal, born May 28, 2008, daughter of Keith and Summer Julian Deal, was baptized Sunday, July 6, 2008, at St. Paulís Lutheran Church in Salisbury. The Rev. Bill Ketchie, the infantís cousin, conducted the service.
Lylla wore an 87-year-old family heirloom christening gown which was handmade by the late Mary Lucetta Brown Peeler, great-great-great-grandmother of the infant. Lylla is the fourth generation of the G.C. Miller Sr. family to wear the gown for the baptism. It was originally made for the late Hubert Paul Miller, great-grandfather of the infant. The baptismal font and bowl were also used to baptize Lyllaís great-grandmother, Margie Deal.
Special guests and family attending included paternal grandparents Jimmie and Jean Deal of Salisbury; maternal grandparents Terry and Pat Julian of Faith; great-aunts and great-uncles Paul and Ed Gill of Georgia, Patsy Everhardt of Salisbury and Mary Frances Ketchie of Gold Hill; aunt and uncle Mark and Sharon Beattie and cousins Madelyne, Landon and Macey Beattie, all of Granite Quarry; and cousins Larry Ketchie and wife Barbara of Gold Hill, Cathy Ketchie of Granite Quarry and Hayden White of Rockwell.
Graham – Trexler
Michelle Graham of Salisbury is pleased to announce the engagement of her daughter, Brittany Reneeí Graham, to Daryl James Trexler of Faith.
The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Ron and the late Bonnie Smith of Matthews and Lanny and Bonny Graham of Salisbury. A 2005 graduate of Salisbury High School, Brittany is employed at Food Lion in Spencer.
The future groom is the son of Dale and Leslie Trexler of Faith and the grandson of Mike and Joyce Barger and the late Fred and Wynn Trexler, all of Faith. A 2002 graduate of East Rowan High School, Daryl is employed in Rockwell.
The wedding is Sept. 13 at the home of the groomís parents in Faith.
