'Gas Guzzler Giveaway' coming to Food Lions

Food Lion has started a “Gas Guzzler Giveaway” promotion to help ease customers’ pain at the pump and encourage them to sign up for an electronic newsletter to find out about weekly specials.
Each week during the 10-week promotion, 10 subscribers to Food Lion’s Shoppers’ Companion weekly e-mail newsletter will be selected at random to get a $50 Visa gift card, which they can use to purchase gas.
Subscribers are eligible for each week’s drawing when they open their Shoppers’ Companion e-mail and click on the submit button beneath the Gas Guzzler logo. Shoppers’ Companion is delivered each Wednesday morning. Drawings will be held each Thursday from July 3 through Sept. 4.
Winners will be contacted by phone and/or e-mail.
Those interested in signing up for the Shoppers’ Companion weekly e-mail must visit www.FoodLion.com. Current subscribers to Shoppers’ Companion do not need to re-enroll.
Sharing data
Food Lion has started sharing point of sale data with suppliers by store, day and stock-keeping unit by using Demand Signal Management, from Retail Solutions in Sunnyvale, Calif., according to a Supermarket News report.
“We chose Retail Solutions because their offering enables our suppliers to immediately and effectively leverage our data to drive improvements in our joint supply chain,” Pete Bonneau, vice president of efficiency and productivity for Food Lion, said in a statement.
Other shipping, ordering and receipt data at the warehouse level will be included, Retail Solutions told upermarket News.
