Fire broke out early this morning in the former Cone Mills textile plant on South Railroad Avenue near downtown Salisbury.

Multiple firetrucks and departments responded to the blaze, which broke through the roof of the building.

Officials said construction crews were working in the building when the fire broke out and moved into the ceiling.

Salisbury Fire Department officials dispatched a number of units as an apparent precaution to make sure the fire did not get out of hand.
