Drug discount card not much help so far
A while back, there were writeups in the Post about wonderful discount drug cards offered by Rowan County. Did anyone get these cards? Did they save money?
I received a card and was told that it could be used at the pharmacy where I get my medicines. In fact, I was told that pharmacy was the first on the list.
I have insurance, part D, but it does not cover the most expensive drug I take. I was looking forward to the promised discount.
The information in the Post stated that cards can be used in conjunction with insurance, including Medicare part D when the plan doesn’t cover a prescription drug.
The discount card I received did not help one bit. In fact, this refill cost more than before.
This made no sense to me. I called several people who were connected to these cards and asked why. I was told it was because the price of the drug had gone up. Why would that matter? Twenty percent of any amount would help, but 0 percent of nothing would not.
