Landmark Insurance, 1008 S. Main St., and Wise Insurance Agency, 211 N. Main St., China Grove, will combine operations Feb 1.
The new agency will be Landmark Insurance Agency and its offices will be at 123 S. Long St. It will represent Nationwide Insurance and several other companies.
Julie Burnham is agency manager for Landmark, which was formerly Allen Insurance. Burnham has more than 15 years insurance experience and has worked with Nationwide for the past 10 years.
“You’ve worked too hard to create your assets,” Burnham, says. “Our agency’s job is to protect them, to make sure you don’t put all that you’ve worked for at risk because you have the wrong insurance protection. We work hard to make sure you have the right protection at the right price.”

Poteat elected
Larry A. Poteat was elected 2008 president of the Rowan Mutual Fire Insurance Co. at its Jan. 19 annual meeting.
Other officers elected are Carl H. Goodman, vice president; Clyde S. Lippard Jr., secretary/treasurer; and Rhonda F. Smith, assistant secretary/ treasurer.
Poteat, Goodman and Lippard were also elected directors along with David Corriher, Justice Williams, Carl Brown, Mary Lou Howe, Jerry Waller, Patsy Sexton, Jewell Alley, Tom Snider and Jerry Sides.
Pest control school
Seven members of Bill’s Exterminating Co. staff attended the 58th annual Pest Control Technicians School last week in Raleigh.
They are Dennis Horning, Steve Litke, Bobby Doby, Tom Lagana, Ricky Ritchie, Johnny Thompson and Bill Peeler Jr.
Coordinated by the N.C. Pest Control Association and N.C. state University, the session presented the latest information on materials used, methods of application for best results, biological information on pests and career fields open to pest control technicians.
‘Landlording’ topic
“Landlording 101” will be the topic of the Feb. 7 meeting of the Metrolina Real Estate Investor Association’s Concord-area subgroup.
The speaker will be Tom Latimer, vice president of Metrolina REIA and a manager of rental properties.
Main areas of discussion will be how to avoid the common pitfalls and become successful as a landlord, regulations, basic laws, and tenant and landlord rights.
The meeting will begin with networking and dinner from 6-7 p.m. at McCabe’s Steakhouse Restaurant, 316 Brookdale St., Kannapolis. The educational program and meeting will being at 8 p.m.
Prosperity seminar
