Fred B. Orbison
LANDIS ó Fred B. Orbison, 87, 609 W. Rice St., died Saturday (June 9, 2007) at the V.A. Medical Center, Asheville.
Born Feb. 24 1920, in Iredell County, Mr. Rice was was a son of the late John and Sallie Huffman Orbison.
Educated in the Iredell County schools, he served in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II.
He was a Baptist.
He retired from China Grove Cotton Mills as a spinning room supervisor. He was a member of the Rowan Senior Golf Association.
His wife, Mildred Kathleen Faggart Orbison, died in 1990.
Survivors include daughter Judy O. Carpenter, Landis; sons Sonny Orbison, China Grove, and Durell Orbison, Charlotte; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A service was held Tuesday at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, China Grove. Burial, National Cemetery, Salisbury.
