Leesa Bain, vice president of Clinical Effectiveness at NorthEast Medical Center in Concord, spoke Tuesday to the Kannapolis Rotary Club at the Club at Irish Creek, formerly the Kannapolis Country Club. The program was arranged by Bob Misenheimer.Bain shared with the club information about how NorthEast Medical Center stacks up with other hospitals across North Carolina in quality of care as well as where the hospitals will be moving in the future. Those initiatives include even better quality and pay for performance.
One interesting fact Bain shared with the club was that in more than 300 days, NorthEast Medical Center has not had a single ventilator associated pneumonia รณ an infection caused by ventilators that results in longer hospital stays and can even result in death.
Each ventilator associated pneumonia costs an additional $40,000 on a hospital bill.
Next week’s program will be a musical interlude of chamber music provided by Kati Moore and friends, arranged by member Sam Moore, aka “Dad.”
The Kannapolis Rotary Club meets on Tuesdays at noon at the Club at Irish Creek. For more information about the club, or to visit, call President Joanie Morris Reeder at 704-202-4456.
