Jimmie L. Childers
Jimmie Lawrence Childers, 64, 2307 Ellerbe Drive, died Friday (Dec. 1, 2006) at Five Oaks Manor.
A service was held Monday (Dec. 4, 2006) at Franklin Heights Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Jim Grigg and the Rev. Tim Jernigan. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.
Lady’s Funeral Home was in charge.
Born Feb. 12, 1942, in Cabarrus County, Mr. Childers was a son of the late Atwell Jeffie and Melzie Shook Childers. A U.S. Army veteran, he formerly drove a truck for MGM Transportation, High Point, and Foothills Trucking, Statesville.
He was a member of Franklin Heights Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and greeter.
Survivors include wife Linda Prevette Childers; daughters Leslie Ann Matthews and Jamie Lynn Banks, both of Kannapolis; son Mark Allen Childers, Mooresville; sisters Sharon Greene, Landrum, S.C., and Shelby Jean Linker, Kannapolis; brother Terry Childers, Kannapolis; and six grandchildren.
