Ethel W. Heglar
Ethel Weddington Heglar, 83, 217 W. 21st St., died Friday (May 11, 2007) at Transitional Health Services after a long period of declining health.
Born Jan. 15, 1924, in Rowan County, Mrs. Heglar was a daughter of the late Charles and Elva Brawley Weddington.
The youngest of 10 children, she worked as a teacher’s assistant for Enochville Elementary School and later as a nurse’s aide at Big Elm Retirement Center.
She was a member of Bethpage United Methodist Church.
Her husband, Clarence M. Heglar, and daughter Janice Swinson preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters Carol Heglar, Kannapolis, Kay Power, China Grove, and Anita McCants, Enochville; son Robert Wayne Smith, Enochville; adopted son Dave Treece, Kannapolis; brother Frank Weddington, Landis; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
A service was held Monday (May 14, 2007) at Whitley’s Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Duane Melton. Burial, West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove.
