The Rowan-Cabarrus Community College Motorsports Management Technology Program invites prospective students and anyone interested in a motorsports career to an open house Wednesday, May 23.
The open house will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Motorsports Lab, Building 2000, Room 2114, on the RCCC South Campus in Concord. The event will give attendees the opportunity to learn about RCCC’s and N.C. A&T State University’s motorsports programs and the wide range of career possibilities in the motorsports industry. RCCC’s South Campus is located at 1531 Trinity Church Road, just off I-85 at exit 55.
RCCC faculty, motorsports advisory committee members and motorsports program alumni will be present to answer questions and share their experiences in the industry. Representatives from N.C. A&T also will be on hand to answer questions about its bachelor’s degree program. Participants can view a PowerPoint presentation about the programs and industry.
A show car from a top Nextel Cup race team will be on display, and visitors can register for several door prizes, including tickets to one of the Speed Week events at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.
“By planning the open house to coincide with the May race week at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, we believe we can call attention to RCCC’s motorsports program at a time when regional interest in the industry is high,” said Richmond Gage, RCCC motorsports program head.
“We especially want to reach out to local high school students and adults wanting to make a career change to a growing, dynamic industry.”
Established in 1997, the RCCC Motorsports Management Technology Program educates students in both the business and technical aspects of the motorsports industry. The program has produced more than 100 alumni working in every area of the industry. Among the largest employers of RCCC motorsports graduates are Hendrick Motorsports and NASCAR Images.
Associate degree and certificate programs are available through the RCCC motorsports program. RCCC associate degree graduates also have the option of transferring to N.C. A&T’s bachelor’s degree program in manufacturing systems-motorsports.
