Applications are now being accepted for the Leadership Cabarrus Class of 2008. If you occupy a mid- to upper-level management position in your company/organization or own your own business and have a demonstrated track record of community involvement, then you are the perfect candidate.
As CT Communications’ Stan Parnell, class of 1997, said, “I have lived here all my life, but Leadership Cabarrus introduced me to people, places and things that I never knew about. It is one of the best programs the chamber has available.”
To obtain an application, contact Deborah Carter at dcarter@cabarrus.biz. Read more about the program on the chamber Web site under the “Programs” tab, “Leadership Cabarrus.”
School proctoring
The Kannapolis City and Cabarrus County school systems have asked the chamber for help in getting the word out that they need proctors for their state mandated testing. Kannapolis will test on May 21-23 (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday) and Cabarrus will test May 22-24 (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday).
Many local businesses urge their employees to give back to the community by volunteering. The chamber hopes businesses will allow those employees who could give a couple of hours at a time to the schools to do so.
What’s the best way to answer this call for help? Have employees get in touch with a school that is nearest your workplace to see if there are needs at there.Chamber officials understand that the need is rather large, and encourage everyone to get involved if they can.
