The Kannapolis Intimidators lost to the Greenville Drive 15-5 in South Atlantic League baseball on Sunday.
Anderson Gomes and Brandon Allen homered for the Intimidators (25-32), but Greenville took charge with a four-run second inning and eventually pounded out 17 hits.
Kannapolis trails Augusta by 15 games in the Southern Division.

East Rowan’s Erin Kettner was misidentified as Erin Hester in the all-county soccer photo in Saturday’s paper. Salisbury’s Emma Miller was county player of the year.n Rowan Juniors win
Matt Laurens pitched three innings of scoreless relief to spark Rowan County’s Junior American Legion team to a 17-14 victory at Cherryville on Sunday.
Cherryville led 14-6 after exploding for eight runs in the third inning, but Rowan rallied for nine runs in the fifth. Laurens shut out Cherryville the rest of the way.
“I can’t say enough about Matt,” Rowan coach Michael Lowman said. “I can’t believe he came in and shut that team down for three innings.”
Ethan Fisher homered for Rowan (5-1, 2-1). Russell Michalec, Zach Smith, Hernan Bautista and Zach Simpson also had big offensive nights.n Post 115 rained out
The Kannapolis-Stanly County American Legion game scheduled for Sunday was postponed by rain.
The game will be made up June 13 in Albemarle. Kannapolis’ non-division game at Eastern Randolph scheduled for that date won’t be played. Kannapolis plays at home against Wilkes on Tuesday.

The North Rowan boosters club is scheduled to meet tonight at 7 p.m. at the Spencer Fire Station.
n Minor Leagues
Fort Myers pitcher Zach Ward (A.L. Brown) pitched seven strong innings with five strikeouts Thursday. He allowed five hits, one walk and one run, but Fort Myers fell to Sarasota 4-0. Ward is 2-7 despite a 2.51 ERA, eighth-best in the Florida State League.
n Toledo reliever Jeremy Johnson (Mooresville) pitched has a 3.25 ERA in Triple A.
n Jaymie Russ (NW Cabarrus) pitched four innings, allowed four runs and took the loss when the Carolina Mudcats fell to Mobile 8-0 in a Southern League game Thursday.
n Darren Blakely (Salisbury) is batting only .182 after nine games with the CanAm League’s North Shore Spirit, but he has two homers, six RBIs and five walks. Blakely had a homer and four RBIs in a win over Atlantic City on Saturday.
n Left-hander Thomas Wilson (Catawba) has made two starts for the Evansville Otters in the Frontier League.
Wilson is 0-0 with a 6.10 ERA. He has seven strikeouts and one walk in 101/3 innings.
n Stingz second
The Salisbury Stingz 12-under girls basketball team placed second in a regional USBA championship held in Myrtle Beach over the weekend.
The Stingz are currently ranked second overall in the USBA rankings.
Team members are Tabitha Ball, Amber Carter, Casey Gullett, Cacy Honeycutt, Tyesha Phillips, Doreen Richardson, Onesha Stevenson, Courtney Sweeney, Carrie Thompson and Deanna Walker. The Stingz are coached by Mike Ball and Wade Murphy.
