CHINA GROVE — Garrie McDean Ingle, 70, 1682 Saw Road, died Friday (Feb. 2, 2007) at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem.

Born Oct. 28, 1936, in Iredell County, Mr. Ingle was a son of the late Javan Beech and Nettie Freeze Ingle.

He served in the U.S. Army’s 101st Airborne Division from 1955-57 and retired after 30 years with Overnight Transportation.

Three grandchildren preceded him in death.

Survivors include wife Nawatha Hinson Ingle; children Michael D. Ingle, Highlands Ranch, Colo., Penny Rayfield, Augusta, Ga., Julie Hunter, Laporte, Colo., Scott Ingle and Nikki Johnson, both of China Grove, and Kevin Ingle, Kannapolis; sister Joyce Allman, Kannapolis; brother the Rev. Donald Ingle, Granite Falls; and 14 grandchildren.

A service was held Monday (Feb. 5, 2007) at Whitley’s Funeral Home, Kannapolis, conducted by the Rev. Darrell Coble, the Rev. Robert Howard and the Rev. Ralph Adams. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, with military rites by the Veterans Honor Guard.
