LEXINGTON – Birdie Vae Hanes Swicegood, 78, of Tyro Community died Sat. Jan. 27, 2007 at Lexington Memorial Hospital.

Birdie was born in Davidson County April 15, 1928 to Baxter Eugene Hanes and Effie Berrier Hanes. She was a homemaker and attended Psalm 91 Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Gurla Mae Freedle, and brothers Eugene Holland and Shady and Clyde Hanes.

Survivors are husband Elmer Swicegood of the home; sons Fletcher Swicegood and wife Kenny, Michael Swicegood and wife Paula all of Lexington, Dale Swicegood and wife Sally of Linwood, and Neal Swicegood of Lexington; daughters Sherry Walser and husband Ronnie of Lexington and Luann Matthews and husband Van of Winston-Salem; plus eleven grandchildren. Also surviving are sister Lucille Wray and husband Carl of Clemmons, and brother Hoyle Hanes and wife Dorothy of Lexington.

Visitation: 6:30-8:30 pm tonight at Davidson Funeral Home and at other times at their respective homes.

Service: 2:00 pm Tuesday, Psalm 91 Church, conducted by Rev. Max Shoaf. Burial: Sandy Creek Cemetery.
