Avery Gene Patterson

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Avery Gene “Koot” Patterson, of Los Angeles, departed this life Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2007.

Born in Rowan County, N.C., on June 8, 1940, Mr. Patterson was a son of the late Fred Patterson and Fannie Ruth Patterson. He was educated at R.A. Clement High School and Los Angeles Community College, where he received a degree in mechanics.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers David Patterson and Ernest Patterson and sisters Unice, Eva, Mary Patterson and Faye Smith.

In addition to his wife, Ethel Patterson, he leaves to cherish the memory of his life a daughter, Katina, and son Nathaniel Patterson, both of Los Angeles; sisters Ozell Tucker, Salisbury, N.C., and Alice Summers, Cleveland, N.C.; brothers Efford Patterson, Cleveland, Thomas J. Patterson (Mildred), Statesville, N.C., and Millard Patterson, Las Vegas, Nev. A host of sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends also survive.

The funeral services were held Friday in Los Angeles.
