SALISBURY – Agatha Payne Deal, 84, of Salisbury, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2007, at Brian Center Nursing and Rehabilitation of Salisbury.

Born Sept. 13, 1922, in Banks County, Ga., Mrs. Deal was the daughter of the late Thomas Lester and Ernie Mae Ward Payne. She was educated in the Franklin County, Ga., schools and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Mrs. Deal was employed for W.G. Hefner VA Medical Center for 22 years before retiring. She was a member of Milford Hills Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay T. Deal, on July 16, 1984.

Survivors include her children, Lisa Shepherd and husband Tate of Salisbury and Gregory Barnes and wife Linda of Asheboro; and grandchildren Richard Kane Durham, Samantha Heilig and T.J. Heilig.

Service: Graveside Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at City Memorial Park with the Rev. Jerry Allen, minister of Milford Hills Baptist Church, officiating.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6-8 tonight at Summersett Funeral Home.
