UNC Greensboro overtook Appalachian State for first place in the North Division of the Southern Conference by beating the visiting Mountaineers 80-76 on Thursday night.

Kyle Hines had 33 points on 14-for-19 shooting for UNCG (9-8, 6-2). Demetrius Scott led ASU (13-5, 5-2) with 16 points.

Former West Rowan star Donte Minter had 14 points on 6-for-9 shooting. He added five boards and three blocks.

The Mountaineers shot 64.6 percent in a game that featured 18 lead changes.
