Ruby and Allen Arey of Salisbury recently observed their 65th wedding anniversary at their home on Spruce Drive with family and friends. They were married Dec. 25, 1941, in Granite Quarry.

Allen retired from White Packing Co., and Ruby retired from Hoescht Celanese.

Members of First Methodist Church, the Areys have a son, Steve Arey and wife Mary of Salisbury; two grandchildren, Kristen Arey of Asheville and Jamie Powell of Waynesville; and two great-grandchildren, Steven McDonald and Evan Powell.

A son, Richard Allen Arey, died April 1, 1999.’
