Letter: A Davidson fan

I have been a Davidson College basketball fan since I was 8 years old, when “Lefty” Driesel was coaching at Davidson.

The Post used to have good articles on the team, but you hardly ever put them in the paper any more. The last two Sundays, there was nothing on them, but you sure do put teams from the West Coast and all the powerhouse teams in there.

I know Davidson is no powerhouse, but they always have a decent team. Bob McKillop does one heck of a job for them. He’s won seven division championships, plus last season they won the Southern Conference tournament. I see a lot of Appalachian State coverage in the Post but not a lot about Davidson basketball. McKillop has won 282 and lost 213 at Davidson. That’s good for a small school; plus they lost all the starters to graduation last year but they still have a 15 and 3 season so far this year.

I hope they keep on winning, and I hope Ronnie Gallagher might put something good in the Salisbury Post about them. They play Appalachian State on Jan. 20 at 2 p.m. I know if Appalachian State wins, the whole sports section will be about them.

I hope Davidson beats them all over the court and will be the Southern Conference champs again in March.
