College Basketball Roundup: Salisbury natives a key for BC

BOSTON — Two Salisbury natives were key figures in Boston College’s

82-63 win over Miami on Tuesday night.

Tyrese Rice had 16 points and a career-high 12 assists, and Shamari Spears scored nine with 10 rebounds.

Sean Marshall finished with 20 points and Jared Dudley scored 18 for BC

(13-4, 5-0 ACC), which won its fourth straight game since he returned from a foot injury and sixth in a row.

Virginia 103, Maryland 91

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Mamadi Diane scored a career-high 26 points and Sean Singletary added 25 and seven assists, ending the Cavaliers’ three-game losing streak.

Virginia (10-6, 2-2 ACC) blew a 20-point first half lead, allowing Maryland to close to within three early in the second half.But the Cavs scored 12 straight to make it 70-55 with 9:50 remaining, and from there the Terrapins (15-4, 1-3) couldn’t get closer than eight.

Davidson 79, The Citadel 54

DAVIDSON — Stephen Curry scored 17 points to help Davidson (16-3, 7-0) stay undefeated in the Southern Conference with a 79-54 win over The Citadel.

Curry, who was 4-for-6 from behind the 3-point line, led five Davidson players in double digits. William Archambault came off the bench to score 14 points, including four 3-pointers. Boris Meno scored 13 points and grabbed a game-high eight rebounds.

PITTSBURGH — Aaron Gray had 22 points and 19 rebounds to lead No. 6 Pittsburgh to a 63-54 victory over Connecticut on Tuesday night.

Ronald Ramon went 4-for-4 from 3-point range and added 17 points as the Panthers (17-2, 5-0 Big East) won their seventh straight.

Jeff Adrien scored 13 points for UConn (13-4, 2-3), which lost for the fourth time in six games.

No. 12 Oklahoma State 105, No. 21 Texas 103, 3 OTs

STILLWATER, Okla. — Mario Boggan set career highs with 37 points and 20 rebounds and hit the game-winning 3-pointer with 3.2 seconds left in the third overtime to lift No. 12 Oklahoma State to a 105-103 victory over No. 21 Texas.

Kevin Durant, the Big 12’s leading scorer and rebounder, put Texas on top with a three-point play with 10.5 seconds left, but there was still time for Boggan.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Robert Dozier had 15 points to lead Memphis to its sixth straight victory.

The Tigers (14-3, 4-0 Conference USA) used a 12-0 run midway through the first half to erase an early deficit and were never threatened in the second half.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Joe Crawford tied his career high with 23 points and Kentucky won its 11th straight game.
