Jack and Shirley Edwards, formerly of Charlotte, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Dec. 30, 2006. Their children hosted a reception for family and friends at Rocky Mount United Methodist Church in Mooresville, where the couple are members. Jack and Shirley were married Dec. 30, 1956, at Park Avenue Methodist Church in Salisbury.

Their children are Kim Holder and husband Jimmy, Kelly Kent and husband Jeff, Kyna Badger and husband Chuck. Their grandchildren are Brett and Dallas Holder, Kaitlyn Kent and Curtis and Chad Badger.

Jack served three years in the U.S. Marine Corps and retired from Duke Power Company with 37 years of service. Shirley taught dancing at Henderson School of Dance for 17 years.
