Robert Lee Ingold

SALISBURY – Robert Lee Ingold, 79, of Salisbury, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was a loving husband, father and granddaddy.

Born April 13, 1927, in Rowan County, Mr. Ingold was the son of the late Lee A. and Ina Shepherd Ingold. He was educated in the Salisbury city schools and graduated from Boyden High School in 1944.

Mr. Ingold joined the U.S. Navy and served his country as Fireman 1st Class, aboard the USS Braine DD630, during World War II.

A member of Stallings Memorial Baptist Church since 1927, Mr. Ingold loved his church and served as deacon emeritus, chairman of trustees, building committee and in many other capacities.

He was co-owner of Foil Motor Company and retired in 1992. He loved his garden, working on his old car and spending quality time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by sister Geraldine Ingold Butler and granddaughter Destiny Leigh Lefler.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Hilda Null Ingold; daughters Lynn Ingold Cauble of Mocksville, Cherie Ingold Lefler (Neil) of Salisbury, Wendy Ingold Stephenson (Tim) of Athens, Ga.; grandchildren Nathaniel, Lynsay and Bryttani Cauble, Branson (Jennifer), West and Nealeigh Lefler; brother Norman Ingold (Helen) of Salisbury; and nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 6-8 tonight at Summersett Funeral Home.

Service: The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Stallings Memorial Baptist Church, where he will lie-in-state for 30 minutes prior to the service. The Rev. Robert Heard will officiate. Burial will follow at Rowan Memorial Park, with military honors by the Rowan County Military Honor Guard.
