CHARLOTTE — Former Pepperdine point guard Michael Gerrity transferred to Charlotte on Monday and will be eligible to play in the second semester during the 2007-08 season.

Gerrity averaged 14.1 points, 3.4 assists and 2.7 rebounds a game as a freshman for the Waves last season and scored 20 or more points four times. He had not played this season for Pepperdine due to a foot injury.

* GREENSBORO — Virginia’s Sean Singletary, who averaged 30.5 points and 4.5 rebounds against Gonzaga and Stanford, is the ACC player of the week.

UNC’s Brandan Wright, who averaged 16 points and six rebounds, was named ACC rookie of the week.

* COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina coach Dave Odom has received a two-year contract extension.

* Former West Rowan star Phillip Williams scored 11 points to help Winthrop (12-4, 2-0 Big South) to a

75-52 win over the College of Charleston.

CLEMSON, S.C. — More people watched Clemson home football games this past fall than ever before.

The team’s seven home games drew a total of 570,542 fans during 2006.

The average of 81,560 per game was second in history.

* ATLANTA — For Calvin Johnson, this was a no-brainer.Georgia Tech’s star receiver announced Monday that he will give up his senior season to enter the NFL draft, fully aware that he should be one of the top players selected.

GLENDALE, Ariz. — The Phoenix Coyotes on Monday acquired center Kevyn Adams from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for Dennis Seidenberg.

CHARLOTTE — Guard Monique Currie was selected by the Chicago Sky with the No. 1 pick in the WNBA dispersal draft on Monday.

Currie,a former Duke star, was one of 11 former Charlotte Sting players taken. The Sting, an original member of the WNBA, folded last week after 10 seasons.

OKLAHOMA CITY — Sam Cassell scored 31 points, Cuttino Mobley added 20 and the Los Angeles Clippers started to look healthy again in a 100-90 win Monday night against New Orleans.

Rockets 84, Bulls 77

CHICAGO — Tracy McGrady scored 25 of his 31 points in the second half and hit the go-ahead jumper to lift the Houston Rockets to an 84-77 victory.
