Narvis Kluttz Pope

SALISBURY – Narvis Kluttz Pope, 91, of Salisbury, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007, at her residence.

Born Feb. 15, 1915, in Rowan County, Mrs. Pope was the daughter of the late George David Eli and Elizabeth “Betty” Penninger Kluttz. She was educated in the Rockwell schools and was a homemaker.

Mrs. Pope was a member of Lebanon Lutheran Church, WELCA and was a former choir member.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Hoyt Pope Sr., on Sept. 30, 2003, and her brothers and sisters, Gladys McGarity, Katherine Stroud, John Hubert Kluttz, Annie Greene, Ralph Kluttz and Frances West Shuping.

Mrs. Pope is survived by her children, Ivan Hoyt Pope Jr. and wife Gwen of Salisbury, Betty Joan Coulthard of Winston-Salem, Carol Pope of Salisbury and Janet Hill of Woodleaf; grandchildren Lisa Weikel of Abingdon, Va., Kim Coulthard of Winston-Salem, Andy Pope of Lakeland, Fla., Robin Pope of Salisbury, David Coulthard of Kernersville, Heather Leonard of Woodleaf and Jennifer Caton of Edgewater, Fla.; and seven great-grandchildren.

Service: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lebanon Lutheran Church with the Rev. John Tucker, pastor, and the Rev. Carroll Robinson officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at Summersett Funeral Home from 6-8 tonight, and at other times, the family will be at the residence.
