Preston Quincy Deal

KANNAPOLIS – Preston Quincy Deal, 82, of 2001 Fairfax Street, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007 at Transitional Health Services.

Born March 8, 1924 in Rowan County, Mr. Deal was the son of the late Walter Monroe and Cora Bostian Deal. He attended Rowan County Schools and was a lifelong member of Mt. Zion United Church of Christ where he was an active Golden Ager, former consistory member, and a member of the Men’s Bible Class. He served as staff sergeant in the US Army Air Force during WWII in the CBI Theater. He was formerly employed in the shipping department with Fieldcrest Cannon. Mr. Deal was a member of VFW Post 8989 and DAV Post 51. He also enjoyed dancing and was a member of the “Swinging Seniors”.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred Belk Deal in 2000.

He is survived by son, Dennis Russell Deal and wife Mary, Charlotte; sister, Sadie Cress, Salisbury; grandchildren, Brian Russell Deal and Erin Marie Deal and loving companion Betty Hill, Kannapolis.

Funeral Service: 3 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Zion United Church of Christ, conducted by Rev. William Campbell. Burial will be at West Lawn Memorial Park

Visitation: 2-3 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
