Arthur E. Goodman

CHINA GROVE – Arthur Elwood Goodman, 88, of 1020 N.C. 153 W., died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007, at NorthEast Medical Center in Concord.

He was born in Cleveland on Feb. 4, 1918, to the late Jay Elwood Goodman and Maude Davis Goodman. He graduated from Boyden High School and retired from Cannon Mills as a foreman in the weave room in 1983.

He was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church and was a Scout leader for Bethany Lutheran Church for many years. He was also a member of Allen Graham Masonic Lodge.

Mr. Goodman is survived by his wife of 67 years, Addie Mae Bradshaw Goodman; daughter Frances G. Turner and husband Henry both of Concord; grandchildren Beth Karriker, Joe Sloop, Scott and Jeff Turner, Kerri Overcash and Geoff Lee; and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Judy G. Lee, in 2003; brothers Clyde, Walter and Jay Goodman; and sister Catherine Young.

Service: The service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at New Hope Lutheran Church with the Rev. Doug Kearney officiating. Entombment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.

Visitation: Visitation will be from 7-8:30 tonight at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in Landis.
