Letter: Whatever happened to community pride?

I moved to the Rockwell area about six months ago, and I love the area. However, I’m completely disgusted at how Holshouser Road has become a dumping ground. The NCDOT and Rowan inmates cannot keep it clean.

As soon as it’s clean, people start littering again. They also dump their trash, old sofas, nasty recliners and tires. Surely, if one can haul these items this far, then they could carry them to the landfill. It is not that expensive to dispose of waste properly. I hauled three over-flowing truckloads to the Rowan County landfill for $16.

Also, here lately, some disrespectful hunter has been dumping his deer carcasses on the side of the road! No decent person wants to see a skinned deer lying about. It’s disgusting — not to mention completely irresponsible and lazy.

Have people forgotten about community pride?
