Norman Herlocker

Norman Eugene Herlocker, 86, formerly of Kannapolis, died Sunday (Dec. 31, 2006) at the North Carolina State Veterans’ Home, Salisbury, following two years of declining health.

Born Dec. 24, 1920, in Cabarrus County, Mr. Herlocker was a son of the late John H. and Earnee Fink Herlocker.

A graduate of Millingsport High School, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired from Cannon Mills as a card room overseer.

He was a member of Royal Oaks Methodist Church for more than 40 years.

His wife, Margie Edna Petrea Herlocker, preceded him in death.

Survivors include son Roger Dale Herlocker, Kannapolis, daughter, Robin H. Marlowe, Concord; sisters Ruth Smith, Salisbury, Hazel Barringer, Concord, and Rachel Hartsoe, Kannapolis; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services: 1 p.m. today (Jan. 3, 2007), Royal Oaks Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Darrin Everhart. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.

Visitation: The family will be at their respective residences.
