Letter: Hit-and-run driver is out there

After being in court all week for the trial of the man who murdered my son, Mark Ritchie, my momma, my two sisters and I went to Spanky’s for a late lunch on Friday, Dec. 1. Since my momma was in a wheelchair, I parked in the handicap space. As soon as I ordered, two ladies came in and said, “A man in a dark green truck just hit your car and took off. He pulled back in and we thought he was going to do the right thing, but after getting his car into gear, he backed out again only straight this time, and headed north towards Spencer. He was a white, middle-aged man and we know he knew better. His truck has a really long streak of your beige/gold paint on it on the back passenger side, and his tag was something like TYH 7844 or TYH 7864.”

I think it is a disgrace that people will do something like this and just drive away. The police have marked the report “inactive.” If anyone saw this happen or has information that can help me find the person who did this, please get in touch with me.
