Horace Rowe Butler

CONCORD – Mr. Horace Rowe “H.R.” Butler, 90, of 4756 Sapp Road, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2006, at NorthEast Medical Center.

Mr. Butler was born August 23, 1916 in Mooresville. He was the son of the late Curthbert Butler and Lala McFalls Butler. He was an insurance agent for Blue Cross and Blue Shield. In 1958, he opened Carolina Bible Camp for children and served as the director for over 35 years. He was an Elder at Kannapolis Church of Christ where he was a member. He was also a member of Kannapolis Rotary Club.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ward Butler.

Mr. Butler is survived by his daughter, Margo Kennerly of Kannapolis; four grandchildren, Mary Margaret “Mimi” Kennerly Correll and husband, Kelly, Britton Kennerly and wife, Natalie, Brian Kennerly and wife, Jennifer, and Shannon Kennerly Gray and husband, Mark; ten great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Service: Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at Kannapolis Church of Christ officiated by Mr. Kirk Sams. The body will lie in-state at the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow at Jericho Church of Christ in Mocksville.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Friday at Lady’s Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home of Mr. Butler.
