Evelyn Goad Haley

SALISBURY – Evelyn Goad Haley, 86, of Salisbury, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2006, at Genesis Eldercare of Salisbury.

Born Feb. 26, 1920, in Mount Airy, Mrs. Haley was the daughter of the late George B. and Dora Sutphin Goad. Educated in Mount Airy schools, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Haley was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

Her husband, retired Major Patrick Arthur Haley Jr., preceded her in death on July 30, 2000; and a daughter, Ann Ingram of Winston-Salem, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include daughter Jeanie Doty (Jim) of Salisbury; brothers James Vance Goad, Raymond Goad and George “June” Goad Jr., all of Mount Airy and John Glenn Goad of Elkin; sisters Goldie Vogler of Winston-Salem, Ruby Marie Jackson of Mount Airy, Virgie Pardue of Greensboro; grandchildren Jason Doty (Amy) of Durham, Jaret Doty (Abby) of Salisbury; and great-granddaughters, identical twins, Olivia and Sophia Doty of Durham.

Service: A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Forsyth Memorial Park in Winston-Salem. The Rev. Gene Edwards, minister of Genesis Baptist Church, Kannapolis, will officiate.
