Eloise S. Chavis

Eloise Snipes Chavis, 79, 526 Broad St., died Saturday (Dec. 23, 2006) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.

Born March 29, 1927, in Cabarrus County, Mrs. Chavis was a daughter of the late Sandy and Gussie Hines Snipes.

She worked at Lowrance Hospital, Mooresville, and Britthaven Nursing Center before retiring.

She was a member of Ben Avenue Free Will Baptist Church.

Her husband, Foster Chavis; son Michael Chavis; and daughter Pat Stewart preceded her in death.

Survivors include daughters Linda Chavis, Nancy Butler, Christie Davis and Janet Beaver, all of Kannapolis, and Mary Kendall, China Grove; son Sandy Chavis, Kannapolis; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Services: 1 p.m. today (Dec. 27, 2006), Whitley’s Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Dean Mitchem. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.

Visitation: Noon-1 p.m. today at the funeral home and at other times at the home.
