Letter: Brightening the season

After reading about the Christmas light display on Goodson Road, I rode through with my 3-year-old son before picking up my older children in Woodleaf. We were both amazed at the display. We circled through the driveway, and a man came out of the house and handed us two candy canes. I explained to him that I was on my way to pick up my children and I wanted to come back by on my way home. He told us to come by as many times as we liked.

After picking up my children, we drove through. Again the man came out with candy canes for everyone, and we wished each other a Merry Christmas.

We drove away, the kids in amazement, and a warm feeling coming over us. It truly is a sight to see, and as we talked about the true meaning of Christmas, it made us more aware of what this time of year really is all about. I wish more people were as giving and kind as this man, not just at this time of year, but throughout. Merry Christmas!
