Former students of Salisbury’s Price High School now living in Washington, Maryland, Ohio, North Carolina, Georgia and Virginia attended the winter meeting of the National Alumni organization.

Anthony Standifer was elected and installed as incoming president of the organization during the Dec. 1-3 event at the Doubletree Hotel in Arlington, Va.

Doris P. Jones presided over both the executive and general meetings.

Highlight of the weekend was a luncheon cruise on the Potomac River aboard the cruise ship Odyssey. The group danced to the music of the Chane Link Band. Soloist for the band is the daughter of Pricean Jim Thompson.

The meeting concluded with a dinner dance and after party in the revolving Sky Dome. A memorial tribute to Dr. Walter Jones was presented at the dinner. Priceans celebrating birthdays during the weekend were Catherine Ross, Doris Jones, Anthony Standifer, Marilyn and Theodore Coleman, I. Davis and Geraldine Coleman Wallace.

McGill Studios recital

Music students of Frances McGill presented a recital of piano and voice, Ancient Carols of Christmas, on Dec. 14 at First Presbyterian Church in Salisbury.

Students performing were Eleanor and Clark Alcorn, children of Mr. and Mrs. Greg Alcorn; Carley Drye, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Drye; Salem Hockett, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. David Hockett; Ann Rollins, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Lee Johnson; Carmen McGill, daughter of John K. McGill of Gastonia and Lisa Bondurant; Allison Murphy, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Jim Murphy;

Annabelle and Madeline Nagy, daughters of Dr. and Mrs. Chris Nagy; Rennie Pearson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Pearson of Gastonia; Ginny Weant, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Drew Weant; and Anna Wooten, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Wayne Wooten.
