Charles T. Lowder

SALISBURY – Charles Thomas Lowder, 58, of Salisbury, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006, at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte.

Born Jan. 6, 1948, in Rowan County, Mr. Lowder was the son of the late Thomas R. and Mary Lee Haynes Lowder. Educated in the Salisbury schools, he graduated from Boyden High School and received an Associate Degree from Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. A U.S. Air Force veteran, he served during the Vietnam War. He was employed by Food Lion, General Electric and Suntrust Bank before retiring.

Mr. Lowder was a member of North Main Baptist Church, where he served as an usher.

He enjoyed fishing and going to the beach and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Lee Crooks, in September 1999.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Snider Lowder, whom he married April 21, 1968; daughters Tracy Rene Lear (Ted) of Granite Quarry, Melanie Dawn Nottingham (Ken) of Salisbury; and grandchildren Ezabella Lear, Dakota Lear, Dylan Charles Lear and Kenneth Lee Nottingham.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight at Summersett Funeral Home; the family will be at the residence at other times.

Service: 11 a.m. Friday, North Main Baptist Church, where the body will lie-in-state 30 minutes before the service. The Rev. Dr. W. Dale Robertson will officiate. Entombment will follow at Rowan Memorial Park Mausoleum, with military graveside rites conducted by the Rowan Military Honor Guard.
