Justin Williams and Anton Babchuk scored, and the Hurricanes beat Philadelphia 2-1 on Tuesday night to hand the Flyers their franchise-record seventh straight loss.

Amare Stoudemire dominated Toronto with 28 points and 10 rebounds in 28 minutes, and the Suns set a franchise record with their 15th consecutive victory Tuesday night in a 115-98 win over the Raptors.

CHICAGO — Luol Deng scored 23 points and tied a season-high with 12 rebounds, and Chicago won for the 12th time in 13 games.

STANFORD — Michelle Wie celebrated her first victory of the year — she got accepted to Stanford.

The 17-year-old senior at Punahou School in Honolulu said Tuesday she would enroll in the fall, dispelling any talk she would concentrate exclusively on her professional golf career once she finished high school.

BASEBALL

CINCINNATI — Flu prevented him from flying from the West Coast for a news conference at the Cincinnati Reds’ Hall of Fame on Tuesday. The hall is putting together a special exhibit honoring Rose’s career.

The Cincinnati native helped the Reds win back-to-back World Series in 1975-76 and broke Ty Cobb’s career hit record, finishing with 4,256. He was banned in 1989 for betting on baseball, something he denied for the next 13 years.

POINSETTA BOWL

SAN DIEGO — Penned in by a bunch of tough Horned Frogs, Garrett Wolfe had nowhere to run.

The national rushing leader was held to 28 yards, a whopping 130 below his average, and No. 25 TCU won a Poinsettia Bowl mismatch against Northern Illinois 37-7 on Tuesday night.

Horned Frogs quarterback Jeff Ballard ran for three touchdowns.
